Down Like Dally by A.J. DerroA Poem by E.C. VidaPoetry detailing my desired funeral.Down Like Dally by A.J. Derro
When I go down gallant, like Dally Or an old man, to ease the pain Build a boat to fit one, and send me to sea On the very next day with rain
So that waves will rock me, and in my sleep I'll feel the ocean stir With water above me, and below me, deep On either side, I'd prefer
Cast me from Dewey, but leave me no line To find my way home once more I've been here so often, I think I'll be fine Should I ever return to shore
I beg the ship, from bow to stern And starboard to port be filled By all manner of stories and things to learn Lessons not yet instilled
That I may read, upon my death The words of those I'll meet And never miss another breath Nor tire on my feet
Cast me from Dewey, but leave me no line To find my way home once more I've been here so often, I think I'll be fine Should I ever return to shore © 2011 E.C. VidaAuthor's Note
