A Goodbye Letter

A letter for my dear father.

I didn’t want to admit it before

But I took you for granted.

You wanted my love

You wanted my company

But I was too busy being selfish

And neglectful that I lost track

And now your time as ended,

And your candle extinguished.

 

I cried for you, I really did

But my pride got in the way

and so I said my goodbyes

a little too late.

I bet you wanted to hear it back then

When you were gasping for attention

And at the end all I could say is I’m sorry

And that I’ll always love you forever

 

I felt regret, but I’m calm now

I know that you have found the light

and that your spirit is finally at rest.

like I said before in your last morning.

I will keep my promise,

and I will always be a great daughter

that your proud eyes have always seen

I love you father; and I’ll always will.

I meant to do this a long time ago, but I didnt have the courage because I was so sad. Now; however, I'm strong enough to write it.

I can see the hurt, pain, agony you went through. But I can also see the pure unfiltered passion that you have for your father. No one wants to lose their parents, or someone they are really close to. It takes alot of courage putting something like this up on here ill give you that. We all lose people we care about. All we can remember is the good times with them, and what they taught us to become the person we are today. I have to say for this being the first piece that I read from you it is very well written.
