IDUNNU MI,

IDUNNU MI,

A Poem by Abioduun

Happy is a word too cheap to scale how I feel with you.
Within me flows a stream of joy I never knew a mortal could bring.
My calming Colors of rainbow, you give me the courage to dream.
You know the corner I'm used to, you have seen me in and out,
But you have brought me to a place of peace.
It's a little above the time we first said hello,
It feels like I have known you forever.
You have been my coach this past year,
The Umpire that blows the whistle when it's necessary.
Sometimes I am angry at God and fate,
They should have brought you soon enough.
This is not about the romance,
This is me saying exactly how I feel,
In the only way I know.
Beyond  every shadow of doubt,
I know we share a soul.
Though we can not be one,
I know I have a friend for life.
Another may think I exaggerate,
But they will never understand,
How it  feels to have all your units in one.
You may also not know why I feel this way,
Except you've found a brother,
A mother and father,
Friend and Lover,
All in one person.
Sometimes when you see my tears flow,
It's not that I doubt what we share.
You know I am not that weak,
But even rocks bleed at times.
It's just my soul mourning the reality,
The ties we have to undo.
I found love in the most unlikely places,
With you, nuptials did not matter,
But I am also like a thief who has stolen a drum,
Unfortunately for him, he took the King's Kakaki drum.
The stick fits perfectly in his hand,
He still must not make a beat.
Of what use is the drum to him if he has to hide
to dance?
How do I can up this smoke?
How do I tame the fire without getting burnt?
How do I conceal this blinding light from the eyes of my soul?
How do you undo your soul and still live?
The rain has erased the track I left on my path to you.
I feel lost finding my way back.
This is not to weep for what  the end would be,
I am celebrating the present and memories made.
To You My Sweetness,
Adun mi,
Idunun mi,
My gossip mate,
Enchanter,
My inspiration,
Thank You For Staying Closer Than Close,
Idunun Mi.
