Nocturnal Heartbreak

Nocturnal Heartbreak

A Poem by EngrJoef

The flame from the candle,
Gently swayed its body,
As the slow breeze of the wind,
Hummed a sweet melody.

Contemplating the splendor,
I stared at its beauty,
I reached out to the flame,
And there stood my fair lady.

In the melody of the wind,
And the music of the crickets,
We danced in the umber night,
Under the pale moonlight.

We took little sways and steps,
And had some gentle leaps,
Our hearts glowed in happiness,
Tearing up a little darkness.

Filled with too much emotion,
I leaned closer to kiss her,
But with one slow motion,
Her beautiful figure flickered.

Tears streamed down her face,
And I asked her why,
She fell down her gaze,
And she said goodbye.

I stood there struck with grief,
As she flew with the wind.
Alas! She was gone forever,
My heart will never mend.

Why was happiness so short-lived?
Everything's gone in a moment.
I looked up to the night sky,
I wonder why, I wonder why.
