night

night

A Poem by Woody
"

a rhymed version of Marie's free verse of the same title

"

The balmy night has tiptoed in

Gently nudging off the day

Its quarter of lime in sequins

Reigning on indigo bay

Studded with diamond seeds

On a black flowering spray

Marie wanted me to post this but I'm not sure about the rhythm and the scan and all that jazz.

Very beautiful, also nicely put together. Magnificent poem, you're a great poet. Keep it up Woody, I can't stop reading your poems. My favorite line was "Its quarter of lime in sequins" It has a great flow, you should definitely write more poems, congrats :)

thank you for stopping by and commenting, Moriarty.
Night must be a lot prettier where you two are looking. All is black at night here. I hate even going outside..Valentine

Beautiful imagery; definitely a unique way of viewing the transition between night and day! I love the line "studded with diamond seeds"; it paints such an accurate picture.

it is jazzy, rhythm's sound...this poem tiptoes into the senses and then sprays eloquence all over the field of thought.

Oh wow, I am blown away by this one. The simplicity with which you link the sentences is brilliant. It flows so smoothly and without any breaks. The rhythm and "all that jazz" is perfect. I have always loved short poems, and this sure is no exception. Forgive me for choosing my favourite lines, but I reckon, "Its quarter of lime in sequins" stands out! :)) Excellent!
