Avalon

Avalon

A Poem by English Rose

 Lying sideways

She manages to burrow deep

In to sleep-barrow.

A hoard

Not-forgotten secrets

Glistening goblets

Drip gold emotion

Sensuality

Daubs barrow’s russet walls

Desire

Arches overhead

Reconstructed temporally

Giving solace

Sweeping scenes of tentative touches

Reflect in mirrors

Spanning out across centuries

Yearning as unconscious

As dreamtime

Whispers of lust echo

Around the chamber

Where once youth bloomed,

A beautiful shell remains

Demeter’s hair sprawls across its mound

Yet deep inside

The cold tomb beneath

Her coma soul exists

One ear half pricked for

The Man In Black

Strains for the tinkle of his chain

Umbilically infusing her soul

With silvery seed

His gift from Queen Mab

Releasing her liminal torment

So she may drink in

His joyous breath

And leap in to his arms.

Until that day

She is,

Vicariously existing

Through jet earth planes

An effigy of Arthurus Rex.

Rustic feel. 'Drips gold emotion' I love it. Your style is very fluidic. The ambience speaks clearly of antiquity and reminds me of old sorceresses and wizards tales. A bit lost at the end with the introduction of the 'Man in Black' but that's maybe a misunderstanding. However I still enjoyed this poem. Cheers!
