For Emma

For Emma

A Poem by English Rose

Eyes flecked green and deepest russet

Gnaw away

Internally-

Rising up

Pink ribbed velvet

Sinews straining

Cold bones

Grind their sorrowful dirge

Ridiculous in its repetitiveness

Humiliating their temporality

Stratospheres should collide

Reside. Repeat. Relay.

Delayed

For her

Renaissance hope

Sprung internal

Seeps and dies

Jet emptiness

Spreads

Billowing around her

Like

A drowning woman’s dress.
