You're Losing Her

You're Losing Her

A Poem by Enfuriation

she writes about the past
she writes about the future
she writes about how it hurts
when you emotionally abuse her
bruises fade faster
she prays for a strike
cause maybe after that blow
she can start a new life
your words, make scars
but you push it away
her smile, the edges
they begin to fray
yet you keep pounding the hate
her ears are bleeding
from the burning harshness
from all of you
a group
reconciling is out of the question
no more group sessions
shes leaving
whether this house or this world
is up to your next say

she is just a girl
alone in the world
even with the arms of many
she is just like before

try to take the knife
thats vowed to end her life
she says it's her solution
to end her blue confusion
___________________________

you dont have to understand
but look at your demands
see what she can give
see what she already has
this girl is fading fast
trust me i feel it
black blue orange yellow
what the hell do these colors mean
shes losing it, cant you see
I promise, this is her mind
and im getting darker
like the ring on her finger
she hates her corruption
its made her herself
so she hates her existence
and questions its meaning
she screams
"let me out"
but shes six feet below
already buried
youre all just too stupid
to notice

Try to take the knife
thats vowed to end her life
shes says its her solution
to end her blue confusion

you wont try though
youre an accessory to murder
the world has lost a great girl
because no one saw her tears.

Heartwrenching. You write well. You sound like you saw it up close and personal. Your imagery is profound. The lower-case treatment adds to the low self-esteem. Too often the victim defends her attacker. Such a tragedy is often discovered too late. There are laws, but too many spouse-abusers go unpunished. Too many victims are afraid to ask for help. They usually feel self-blame, but that is the brainwashing of constant terror. I saw it as a child, bullied by siblings, living in constant anxiety. Nobody ever listened to me. So sad.
