Our Summertime SpotA Poem by KatePerfect summer day.
Our favorite country songs were playing on your radio,
We drove down to the place where only we know Down that old dirt path, the dust rose into the air Dirt covered your tires, but we didn't care. Five minutes later we made it; We jumped right into the creek The chilled water cooled us, the deeper we'd sink We came to the surface, our faces both had a grin You pulled me close, water between our skin The sound of George Strait played above the sound of our splashing It was only us and the music, and the cold water lapping It was the first day of summer, sticky and hot No one but me and you, in our summertime spot I came down here with you without any thought, To watch the day go by in our summertime spot. In that cool water you kissed me, your lips as chilled as the creek Your fingertips tracing the outline of my cheek I slipped out of my bikini top to feel the rush of the water, I was exposed to all nature, but it didn't matter. The water felt amazing against my bare chest, The coolness carried away all my troubles and stress. You being there with me made the day all the better, Floating right there beside me, feeling as light as a feather Laughing and talking and swimming all day, Life's so much better when it's no work and all play. For it was the first day of summer, sticky and hot. It was just me and you, in our summertime spot Our favorite songs playing, there was not one word we forgot Spending our day here together in our summertime spot. © 2010 KateReviews
