No Sound Without Silence

one of my favorite bands, The Script, released a new album, and since i cannot write normal reviews for s**t, I've decided to write a poem summarizing the album

words are not the words we think

they don't have the powerful meaning we think they have

since we are human

weak, vulnerable

we cannot see their surface

they are created blindly

and sadly

we cannot rewind time

and change this

if only we could

because there is 

no good in goodbye

like we have convinced ourselves there is

you can have strength

you can have power

although it is not overnight

what is?

you can learn to stay strong

as long as you have faith in

yourself

you can build this up

day by day

and once you've done it

you will fly

because you've been trying

to be your own

superhero

i feel like i've been

walking on a thread

that if i make one more wrong move

i'll be gone

if i'm not already

seeing you with someone else

i never thought that'd affect me so much

it does not help

that you now know

i'm walking on a tightrope

that i'm just a

man on a wire

if the wind blows one more time

if i get any higher off the ground

i need to keep going

so i won't fall down

if you don't love what you do

then what exactly are you doing?

follow your dreams

do what you want

if you have to question yourself

it's not right for you

look inside yourself

do you see what you've wanted?

listen to yourself

listen to your peers

because you've only got

one life to love what you do

we are here only the span

of our own lifetime

and it's gone in a blink

but i'll stay by your side

because i chose to fall for you

and i haven't gotten up since

and I won't

even if everything is gone by tomorrow

even if we're both gone tomorrow

i know that 

the energy never dies

and i know that I will find you again sometime

are you still breathing while you're drowning

are you completely alone in the darkness

have you convinced yourself that no one is there

even if you can't see?

well your eyes may be closed

because someone is out there

and they're sending out flares

have you seen them yet?

open the window

in the black sky

there are lights

somewhere

you haven't seen them yet have you

because you've lost something

but have you been blinded yet

by the flares

because you are not alone

life's a war

the whole world is a war zone

but i'm shielded from it all

i will go through all the pain

all the hate

that is in the war zone

because i'm not alone

i am protected 

because you are by my side

your love is like an

army of angels

i've seen you in everything possible

we've been through it all together

i've seen the world

but yet i've never seen anything

quite like you

you're missing home

you're not there

but tonight we are gonna

paint the town green 

just like home!

we can make it feel like home

like we are there now

let's turn into our own

make it be Dublin 

because the town is our own

it's alright

without the past songs

that we've heard

that we've been inspired by

what happened in their lives?

what made them write these songs?

what happened?

what would it be

without those songs

when anything

good, bad

happened

they wrote the words

that we sing along to

no matter how long it's been

we always make it our day

there's nothing wrong

as heaven is on earth

we don't know what will happen

it might be our day

i'll never change my friends for the world

we're all living a good life

whether it be

hail, rain, or sunshine

because we always have a good time

final verse, inspired by the title of the album:

sound is never just there

it never just appears

what happens before sound?

does it just interrupt and does

it just be there?

there is always silence

because there is never just

sound

without 

silence

Author's Note

the text in bold is the name of each song in the album if you haven't figured that out already. I'm sorry i always like to do this, its just music is as important to me as writing is, espc since I've been having a tough time lately. i hope you do like the piece tho.
