A Story by Ma'at

They stared in confusion at the silhouette, temporarily forgetting the raging storm around them. Finally, after a few moments of shock, Daniel grabbed Zoe's hand and slowly walked forward. She followed, staying close to his side nervously, forgetting her head her pride. The unisex silhouette made a move toward them also, appearing slightly threatening. Zoe squinted her brown eyes as an attempt to see the owner of the shadow.
"Who are you?" Daniel said, peering forward and squeezing Zoe's hand tightly.
"Nothing," who are you?" the silhouette replied tersely. Zoe could tell it was a girl.
She looked up at Daniel, the first thing she saw was a perfect jawline. She shook her head to get rid of that thought. He'd looked irritated.
"I asked first," he answered, narrowing his eyes.
The girl groaned melodramatically. "I'm Nadia, and I'll ask again-who ARE YOU?"
"I am Daniel, and this is Zoe." Daniel replied, looking somewhat annoyed at Nadia's ridiculous rudeness.
"Hello Daniel and this is Zoe," Nadia said, smiling at herself.
Daniel rolled his eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"Talking to a pair of strangers currently."
He stared at her, shaking his head. Zoe bit her lip to keep from screaming at Nadia.
"This is my home," Nadia said, sensing that they were getting irritated.
"You live here?" Zoe blurted in shock.
Nadia looked at her directly in the eyes. "Yes, I do. I live here alone."
"Alone?"
"Don't ask to stay...well...you know, I wasn't expecting or ever accepting any living company."
"Trust me, we weren't going to ask." Zoe said. Daniel grinned.
"Uh-huh," Nadia said, clapping her hands together. "Well, there's only room for one living person..." gesturing to the gated fence behind her. "But we can fit maybe a hundred souls."
Zoe felt uncomfortable, and she heard Daniel shift as well.
Behind the fence there was an abandoned building, all grey and worn. It was about three stories tall, with rotting wood for the walls and broken faded bricks. It sat on a tilting foundation, with cracks all throughout the cement. The rain battered the building brutally.
Nadia smiled sweetly at them. "Well, you should both get going. There's some business I must take care of."
Zoe narrowed her eyes at Nadia suspiciously. She kept feeling a sense that something was very, very wrong with this place and with Nadia. There was something about her personality and demeanor Zoe felt was off.
Nadia stared back at her behind her large, dark sunglasses, her eyes unseen. She toyed with her long black gloves casually.
Daniel tugged on her hand. Zoe just kept staring at her until Daniel pinched her wrist to catch her attention.
Zoe was suddenly aware of the pouring rain and thunder and lightning flashing all around her, she was aware of Daniel pulling her anxiously towards him. She was aware of the world. She let Daniel pulled her, and she stumbled against the stones on the ground beneath her. She fought them to let her through.
But she fell to the ground with a bang, and her closed. She was enveloped with darkness and a searing pain in her skull.

you're most welcome my dear
Again your use to adjectives is impressive, makes me want to go through my book and change up some words lol! I can't stop wondering what just happened at the end, which is something a lot of writers use to keep the audiences attention, keep it up! This definitely sounds like something I would read! :)
