The Universe

I combined my love for astronomy and writing into one

Full of unopened stories and tales

holding beautiful secrets

some opened in chaotic explosions

mysteries discovered

Stars

their wondrous existences something

of a passion

their colors unique to one star

their lives

long or short

seeing what a human could never see

galaxies

collections of similar stars

their colors blending as one

competing with one another for their place

sometimes colliding with others

becoming one

planets

possessing their own life

how would we know?

their story similar to ours

yet they became entirely their own

black holes

the center of our galaxy has brothers that can

destroy us

their existence known

though their presence cannot be seen

supernovae

bright bursts of light and color

well-deserved for whatever star has died

though this beauty is deadly and quick

the whole universe knows when a star is dead

though this is only a fraction of what is there

know we live in a place

full of destructive chaos

coexisting with evils and goods of all kinds

a place of wild beauty and wonder

a beautiful, dark, mysterious place is our home...

An educational and beautifully descriptive poem. It is hard to pick my favorite verse, they are all lovely, however,

I like the way you include a subtle comparison to human behaviours in this poem and the variety of features of the universe that you explore in order to do this. "unique" "blending" "colliding, becoming one," "brothers that can destroy us", "bright bursts of light and colour" that die... great poem

you might not know it if you don't live in the US, but it's this show about the universe and stars and astronomy, with an actual astronomer as the host. it talks about dark energy to the possibility of living forever and it's just great!
