What Were You Supposed To Do?

What Were You Supposed To Do?

A Poem by En.Ki

This was also used by my friends in THE BITTER FORGIVEN as a song, which as of right now is untitled to my knowledge.
The time has come
all things undone
I am simply saving this for you

burn the loss
return the cross
you placed on my tomb...

there is nothing left
but you're still standing there
I think you know
you reap what you sew

your thoughts begin to drift
losing your train of thought
your brain begins to shift
what were you supposed to do?

Can we see the time?
the place?
the cost?

Burn the loss
return the cross
you placed on my tomb
there's no room

there is nothing left
and you're still standing here
I think you know
you reap what you sew
you fold, you go
I think you know
you bare your soul
lifeless undertones
your cup overflows
inside my tomb
there's no room...

What were you supposed to do?
