One Line

One Line

A Poem by EmyBow

My body is screaming

Crying out in utter agony.

My skin is boiling

And my thoughts are running wild.

Just one line.

Just to feel that cold, sharp pain.

To make the voices quiet.

To be able to breathe again.

Just one line.

One line for focus.

Just two lines.

Two lines to make the voices stop.

Just three lines.

Three lines to feel the cold flood my body,

Just four lines.

Four lines to finally feel the pain.

Just five lines.

Five lines to dwell a little in the ache.

Just six lines.

Six lines because it’s what I deserve.

Just seven lines.

Seven lines to watch the blood stream.

Just eight lines.

Eight lines to numb me completely.

Just nine lines.

Nine lines is just so close.

Just ten lines.

Ten lines and just about there.

Just one line.

Just one line striking through the rest.

Just one line to put my heart at full ease.
