Dear World

A series of letters to make people think about their actions.

Dear World,

I never could understand you; why you would build someone up just to tear them down.

But World, you enjoy it so much, don’t you? You enjoy watching people be beaten down until they feel they are worth nothing.

Tell me, do you enjoy when people die because of the words you say? Do you enjoy that tiny whimper and twinge of regret they feel when they take their last breath? Do you even recognize the fact that it’s your fault? Do you understand that it is your words that utterly destroys a life? Do you realize what you have done? Do you care?

I could never be like you World. Destroying people, ripping them apart limb by limb, piece by piece until there’s nothing left, not even a thought in their mind that tells them that life is worth living because you made it so there’s nothing worth living for. You take their ability to love, to care and believe in anything. All they can see is blackness. The blackness you brought into their world. The blackness you used to destroy them.

Why World do you do this? To get a laugh? To make yourself feel better about yourself? Or for the simple reason that you love to watch people fall?

So I’ll leave you to go along and break someone else, because they mean nothing to you. After all, they’re just another person, just a face in a crowd. They’re another heart and soul but you’ll never notice. It’s not in your nature.

And when you see another death in the newspaper, will you even remember? Will you even feel anything?
