27 Angels

27 Angels

A Poem by Lavery the Librettist
"

For all those little children and teachers who lost their lives in Sandy Hook Elementary, Newtown. Rest in peace xxx

"
It started as a normal school day,
Schoolbags and packed lunches, kids eager to play.
Noone knew what was to happen that morning,
With a killer at bay.

Classrooms filled with the sound of laughter,
Painting, reading, numbers and chatter.
Little children, just five and six,
With evrything to live for, unaware of the risk.

At 09.30, began the rampage,
An angry young boy, just twenty years of age.
Lanza stormed through the doors of Sandy Hook school,
A gun in his hand, such a fool.

Alerts of panic heard on the school intercom,
A man on the loose, a weapon at dawn,
Gunshots ringing through the corridors,
Teachers locking cupboards, children curled up on the floor.

After several minutes, a clear silence was heard,
A senseless gun shoot out, he never cared.
18 kids lives, and six teachers too,
Lost in cold blood, the reason noone knew.

He took his own life, to escape his own fate,
He will meet his maker, at the lords pearly gate.
But one things for sure, no excuses or pardon,
There's 27 brightest angels now, in gods greatest garden.
