Promises and lies

Promises and lies

A Poem by EmpressPoetess

Azure skies upon the horizon
as my heart soared that high
soft green meadows and hidden shadows
where our sweet promises were made
you held me oh so tight as the dew kissed
the leaves of morning glories and spring roses.
Soft white clouds went slowly by, as did time
as smooth as the cool water fall's flow
we drifted, oblivious to the world beyond
my heart broke as you stood to leave this scene
I promised not to cry, I promised to be cool
but I lied, because you promised to always stay......
....A meadow of dark shadows looms, dreadful
windblown rains drizzle, leaves fall, dying
no arms hold my shivering body, no shelter
rose petals crushed, bleeding crimson tears
morning glories became things that died
promises broken became lies that came true.

I love, love, love the imagery in this poem! Beautiful! Well done! I felt as if I were the speaker in the poem. Now that is what I call good poetry.
