So deep my tears

So deep my tears

A Poem by EmpressPoetess

Seal my lips if I can't whisper your name
I shall live in darkness with silent screams

let darkness seal me away in my dreams
my undying love, never to proclaim

What once brought me joy now has me grieving
my love for you slowly breaking my heart
I can't embrace the fact that you're leaving

or that my life love will soon be torn apart

I shall lose my means of light once you’ve gone
and tender love will be but a memory
laughter will cease, but my tears will flow on
’cause you’re taking my everything from me

You’re taking away all my hopes and dreams
and leaving me with crumbs and broken things.

The intensity of loss is well conveyed in this lament... the structure and rhyme give it a sense of substance, underpinning the song of a broken heart...

'crumbs and broken things' - says it all
