Dues paid

Dues paid

A Poem by EmpressPoetess

I cried my last tear yesterday

Dried eyes can see clearly

I’ll take my chance on a new day

Since new days hide lies, we nearly

forget the dues we have to pay.

Sad reminder that the past is hard to throw off... I liked the brevity and simplicity of this... the half-rhymes linking the end of each line... no wasted words... each line charged with feeling...
