What you hunger for

What you hunger for

A Poem by EmpressPoetess
"

Sometimes the reality is greater than the expectations of life.

"
I climbed the latter
of great expectation
that led me to nowhere
and looked into emptiness

I felt for the door to oblivion
yearning it to take me there
to that soft padded place
yearning it to take me there
but misery it was
that kept me company

I tripped the switch to happiness
and found folly waiting there
woe grasped my shirt tail
I dragged it around with regret

I kept trying to play it cool
so I wore those rose colored glasses
for awhile and half awhile

The life for which I'd sought
was much better from afar
sometimes the Ferris wheel stops
at the top of the world, it seems
plant your feet, for the fall is coming!

Hahaaa! yeah, little blue pills
plus pretty red wine equal happy
so says the moment, the liar!

A beautifully sad poetic of what was and what could of been.
Each stanza compliments the next until the last that exposes
comfort with blue pilss and red wine...Well done E.P.

a reflective piece indeed!! made me think quite a bit about our mortal situation almost! "grass isn't always greener on the other side" springs to mind - but also possibly if looking deeper... notions of suicide - seemed like "happy" at the time... but a lie! not too sure - lots of interpretations to this - which makes for a great poem! full marks haha!!

A wisdom poem! Yes, sadly what we long for often turns out to be vanity... But I like to dream and sometimes it is pleasing to share dreams and to live inside a fantasy... the blue pills and the red wine may be an escape - and of course reality will always return - but the escape can be a moment of glory... even in words

Nicely composed reflective piece
