DisbeliefA Poem by EmpressPoetessBreaking up is hard to doLike water from a distant river The silence flows across the room Faint with the bittersweet surrender
His silhouette reflects the moment Coffee cup pressed to grim lips, he sips Ridiculous! Let your screams echo out
Stomp in rage and fling something Just stop this stubborn silent ranting!
My heart is swelling, no way around it The pieces are scattered across the floor
Memories of gay laughter in sunlight And tender kisses shared in spring rain And shouting over who’s right or wrong
Hold on tight to these souvenirs If we had laughed harder yesterday Maybe today would have lasted forever
Maybe we’d be pulling it together Instead of tearing it apart
I'll leave my keys on my way out I won't be needing them anymore. © 2010 EmpressPoetessReviews
