The mystery I miss

The mystery I miss

A Poem by EmpressPoetess

Lying here missing your arms

and your heart beating with mine

trying to turn back the hands of time

and shut off these silent alarms

Daylight is coming too soon

to shatter my nighttime revelry

pretending you’re not leaving me

I need the night, I miss the moon

It used to smile when you kissed me

It heard my heartbeat racing fast

from a love I knew would last

and not just my lovelorn fantasy

Crazy chances we take

for love’s little souvenirs

clinging on for years and years

to ties we never learn to break

Velvet night skies give us mystery

where we keep on pretending

searching for our happy ending

hiding from the true reality

Splitting into while I still love you

and you love me just the same

we forsook the rules of the game

no more saves left for us two.

A poem of charm and nostalgia, written with skill and grace... I liked the details of the recollections... the kisses, the bodily contact, the sense that it might not last..... And then the holding on to those sweet memories associated with the dreams and the velvet skies... until the dream was no longer even an imagined reality.... sad, wistful, beautiful...
