Laced with fear and bits of fright

Laced with fear and bits of fright

Once upon a night so dreary
shadows under trees bounced so eerie

strange voices whisper in deep night

laced with fears and bits of fright

Golden fog floats on rain damp air

it’s cold and wetness drench my hair

street lights flicker a warning sign

what waits ahead, what might I find?

Blood drinking viscious vampire bats?

and creepy, sneaky old black cats?

but still I walk along in my dread

of some things feared and some things dead

Dense blackness feeds on fragile souls

from fiendish beasts and ghastly ghouls

it's nights like this I pray I’m dreaming

For fear and dread are so demeaning

I have no tools in which to fight

These images delved from mere fright

I run in fear that something might

crave my flesh and bones this night!
