Reqiuem in black and white

Reqiuem in black and white

A Poem by EmpressPoetess

Scarlett's tears

shine bright on the screen.

His gin and coke glass sits

untouched, unwanted same as me

My sighs,

go unnoticed, or so it seems

Frankly, Rhett doesn't give a damn

It's my life

that's falling apart at the seams.

The fight to keep it real

was the fight that ended it all.

His bags

are packed and sitting at the door

while we sit

wondering if there's anything left unsaid.

Oh yes,

I'll use this damsel's distressing end

to masquarade my own tears.

She'll have another day. Yes, tomorrow

But my scene ends when the tv goes off.......

The first stanza really lured me in, especially the last two lines, "His gin and coke glass sits/ untouched, unwanted same as me" There's a sad honesty that really touched me and it continues on throughout so well done for atmosphere. Also the lines "While we sit/ wondering if there's anything left unsaid" really resonates with me too. Its well structured and brilliantly phrased, nice job and keep up the good work.
