Why has love forsaken me?

I followed all the roads

I walked the trails outlined

by those who came before me.

 

Why did love not hear my call?

Did I whisper too low?

I should have screamed out loud

I thought I made myself heard.

 

Why has love forsaken me?

 I gave it my whole heart

I bled the blood required,

and I suffered all its wounds.

 

I must have misread the signs,

 written there on the wall

I must learn love’s language

before I try to speak it.
