A tempest dreamA Poem by EmpressPoetess
T’was night when I inhaled a quickened breath
Dreamt me, of my lover’s demise in death
Gentle lover? Called me, across the frigid shore
Why must your tender love return no more?
What sin did me, to grieve this loss of you?
When only to thy love, have I held true
All due the anger of the savage sea
I did not hear my lover’s call to me
No more to feel my lover’s fond embrace
My lips left bare without his kiss’s trace
Ah me! Each dear and treasured touch be lost
Oh breathe me! Lest my wretched soul be tossed
But lo! Awakened me to morning’s thrill
Beloved lying near me, living still!
