The heart remembersA Poem by EmpressPoetessInspired by the Marty Balin song HeartsWhen love won't stay forever, when words fail pain seeps in and crowds out reason But memories still linger,
Awakened by a heartbeat’s jarring nudge The heart remembers days of joy and happiness And nights by the fire, with hungry kisses
The heart remembers those urgent whispers the tenderness that brought tears
And a passion, blazing as an inferno hearts can be that way
Why can’t sweet memories be our fixer? why can’t tenderness heal and sooth
Does not the memory of our passion burn away all hurt and regret into ash?
Just turn around, my love, and remember Isn’t this why we braved going thru the fire? © 2010 EmpressPoetess |
