Natural SelectionA Poem by Empirik
As we begin to hike
Song birds feed on the fresh seed It's early summer The morning ripe with sweetness An old loved hand held for the first time The ground is flat and dry Sword fern all around For miles and miles the wind weaves and withers through a forest of knowledge Knowing who we are and what it requires to continue together One foot in front of the other Resting further beside old growth Natures beauty Decomposing fallen trees Stability in the past Seeing two squirrels a-like Mind coming together with the river descending beauty Fast Powerful Elegant Freely flowing forward falling together bound by Earth Majestic Merry making our way across canvas bodies in seek of further exploration Hot sun Sweat sweetly swerving upon our faces Eyes locked on the stride Decided to be A place where two can feel free and share face One wearing lace The other in bare grace Reaching the car fixed with freedom and mated for eternity © 2012 EmpirikAuthor's Note
