Under You

Under You

A Poem by Wonderland Asylum

Hello?
Can you hear me?
I’m down here...
6 feet under...
Not where I’m suppose to be
You come and visit me
Everyday
I hear you constantly pray
To talk to me again
Hold my hand
Hug me tight
Well I’m right here
I hear everything you say
I cry with you
I laugh with you
I pray with you
I am always with you
Even from 6 feet under
I AM HERE
I pray myself
To heal your pain
Dry your eyes
Help you move on
Don’t forget me
You know where I am
Always in your heart
Forever your friend
I will continue to grow old with you
Until we meet again
When we walk together in the sky
Holding each others hands
For now I stay
6 feet underground
Loving you
Praying with you
Hearing your voice
As I lay in silence
6 feet underground...

My grandmother was the first person closest to me that I lost some 25 years ago, and it became hard visiting her burial site to talk to her but easy to talk with her everywhere else. I suppose the idea of knowing her physical being was beneath the ground made it real that she was gone. I imagine if her physical being could speak for her spiritual one, the conversation would go something like this.

Interesting... Death is apart of life. Love ones will always be with us in spirit.

I guess we will never know how true this is. Perhaps it is the projection of the protagonist's guilt as they contemplate the death pof someone close and feel mixed emotions. You do capture the conversational tone and spirit of the deceased in the verse.

When i started reading the poem, I knew you are talking about someone or yourself being in underground. It is a heart touching poem with so much feel. I will keep your Lovely Grandma in my prayer. 100 rating for this poem. Outstanding.

Sad when a loved one leaves us alone and we can only reach them in spirit or visit the grave- but knowing they are always with us does bring comfort- love the way you wrote it from a different perspective🌹

This is a lovely way to express how our departed loved ones might look upon us.

Very compelling, emotional, and strangely comforting.
You definitely have a good sense of how people handle grief and the kinds of things that make bearing the pain a little easier.

A very moving monologue from beyond the grave. Very comforting for anyone who has lost someone dear to them. And we all do it - stand at the graveside and talk to the departed, so it is a universal message of hope. Very nicely done, Cat.

I found this a comforting poem for a loved one. Who has lost someone? And express what they do. As they miss them so much and love them beyond words. I guess that is why we bury people sometimes. Instead of cremations. As it's always somewhere you can go to feel and be close to them and talk to them.
