A Poem by Wonderland Asylum

"You are beautiful,
You are strong,
You are more than the blade you're holding against your wrist.
So drop it.

You are more than those b*****s' whispers
and those dirty catcalls.
Don't ever doubt your worth
Because you are better than the picture you've painted in your head.

You are the best version of yourself
And now is the time of your life.
Get out there, set yourself free
Unshackle your feet from the chains that drag you down.

You are beautiful and you are not alone."

If only every fractured person could have a friend like this, a friend who is a staunch supporter, a cheerleader who can overcome whatever brings him/her to the point of a knife. I answered a Suicide Hotline for 2 years & I could've done better to have had this approach. I love the power conveyed in this writer's words. With so many awesome poems we'd like to share, this was an excellent choice! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Powerful and useful words. More people should read this poem. Sometime we must stand our ground and not accept the words of naysayers. Thank you dear friend for sharing this work.

You're goddamn right. There will never be a better you than you. Trying to be somebody you're not, or having to hurt yourself to get through the day, is a shame to yourself. This piece sums it up beautifully.

An impressive, touching piece. All truth and expresses confidence and strength, even if though self-discovery, reflection, etc. I particularly like "you're the best version of yourself." So true. If only we could all embrace that message.

Is the semicolon the symbol of surviving a loved one's suicide or attempted suicide? If so, I get the title.
Thank you for sharing this piece on here.
