Dear friend. Sometime writing can be hard. Maybe time to test life and have some fun. Don't force the words. Find something you like to do and do it. I use song and I read a lot. I hope you are doing well. Have fun and be safe.

Try thinking of the little things that gave you joy as a child or if you dont have any from childhood. think of something or someone that gives you joy.
What I did when I first started writing and posting poetry years ago I would let out all that negative energy and then after exhausting myself would read other people's writing whether sad, happy, or downright depressing and then would use their energy written in their words to fuel my next poem and would work to try and discover that positivity I feel like I'm trying to tell myself.
Just remember, this is the place the reveal the darkest part (broken or angry) of you without it following you in the streets, so I find it a nice play to pour a bit of your soul in order to try and get something different back. If that makes any sense...
Oh, and it helps me to speak what I've written aloud and then rewrite it or add something that I buried too deep to add before. Like trigger memories...
Keep writing and stay safe.
I will tell you something I've learned after looking for the same thing - happy is boring. That's not to say that a good story can't be positive, but the interest lies in drama and tension. And fear.
Why would someone want to read a story that's positive the whole time? Where's the draw? If you want it light, keep it light. Add some humor. Have characters whose only purpose is comedic effect. Your main characters can be funny, but never "happy." The happy character should be the oblivious character, because life is drama and tension and fear.
Here's an exercise: take your favorite comedy and strip away all the jokes. Look at the story itself and tell me how positive it sounds. I can almost guarantee that it won't.
Give your characters happy endings, but make their lives hell before they reach it.

Reminds me of the saying "when we look up to the sky we never look for the dark side of the moon" but we always know its there. It's apart of the moon and it's identity... most just overlook it at first when it's probably the most important part.
I think as other comments suggest, just carry on. I know it may start to feel repetitive but you do have some beautiful works. Try to listen to music and convey emotion from that whether that be sad/rock/indie etc. Keep going :-)
you can write sad stuff
ive written sad stuff mainly in my work
i dont call my stuff work
they ditties to me
very unproffessional ditties
write sad, write happy , write funny as your mood
takes you
just let it flow
dont worry what we are waiting for or expect
write for yourself to ease your pain or your sadness
or to let your happy out xx

A few decades ago, I read a book about the writing life (can't remember name now). One of the suggestions I'll share with you. We were advised to write morning pages -- this is where we can pour out all the ugly thoughts & depressive ideas that keep going around & around in our heads. I felt this was especially helpful since I've been depressed half my life. After we write a page or two about all the junk we hate, then the idea is that we clear our channels & we can look outside our s****y feelings & thoughts. It isn't always easy, but it helps a lot. During morning pages, you're encouraged to NOT edit yourself, just let it come out as ugly as it happens sometimes. Of course, morning pages can be done at any time of day, usually before you're attempting to do some creative writing. I did this for years & filled up many notebooks. Now I can think of more upbeat things to write about without doing the morning pages. Good luck. I admire you for being honest & asking for help (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I just ordered it as of recently, apparently it's supposed to be very good. It's by Julia Cameron, if that's the one you are thinking of. I am really excited to get going on my morning pages as I believe it will relieve a lot of stressors. :-)

I've never heard of that but I'm searching for it now. Thanks.

Alternative, shy, loves music.
I typically keep to myself, and am not very expressive.
But when I write, it's like I'm some place else.
I've been gone for a while, and I'm working on getting back.. more..
