A Wolf's Bounty

A Wolf's Bounty

A Poem by King Wolfe (Dylan A. King)

As I stand head lowered close to the ground

I listen to all the sounds surrounding me,

I feel the soft moist soil under my paws

I hear something rustle some leaves nearby

I quickly look up, the ground now rushing under me

I can almost taste the blood of my prey

as I am chasing it through a dense orange forest,

I soon close the gap between me and my victim,

I then leap through the air and sink my fangs deep into

its muscular thigh, sapping its strength and causing

the white-tailed deer to stumble and plummet to the

bed of red leaves where it will take its final breaths.
