Blackthorne TerrorsA Story by SilenceIsBlissAlice walked down the wrong street on the wrong night.
Alice walked down the pitch black streets of Blackthorne, cerulean eyes darting from side to side nervously. There were rumors of horrific things that happened and lurked on the street...and she wasn't too fond of them. Tales of murder and bloodstained sidewalk drifted through her mind, making her shiver and tremble as she moved. Her steps were slow and cautious, pausing every time she heard an unknown noise.
"Wh-What was that?" she murmured, turning this way and that, having heard another branch snap around her. She felt as if she was being followed, even though there was absolutely no one there. She turned once more, before continuing to walk down the longest street in town. The rustling of trees was heard to her left, the silence of night to her right. No one was awake on this street, and that frightened her. The street lights were on, but they were dim, as if the town didn't have enough energy to power them all the way. Goosebumps tickled her arms in the cool night air, making her shiver and shudder even more as she stopped once again. Every so often, she would pause and start up again, only to stop again. She glanced up at the sky, and was met with a full moon, which was a little promising. Maybe everything would be okay after all. Alice was just heading home from a Halloween party that her friend Melissa had been hosting and was dressed in a cliche witch outfit that her friend had made her put on just for the occasion. Alice was very superstitious and definitely wasn't big on Halloween or the costume she had been forced into. Her friend promised that she'd be home before dark, but here she was, walking home on a Friday night with no ride...on Blackthorne, of all streets. The only light came from the dimmed street lights and the full moon that let it's silvery beams sweep over the earth. Hearing another noise, Alice whirled around, her entire body trembling more than before. The noises were becoming more frequent and louder by the minute, and it terrified her. She turned around to walk forward again, but was met with a pair of deep crimson eyes and a low snarl. She saw the creature lower to the ground as if it was ready to pounce, before Alice turned and sprinted off to her left...right into the woods. For a split second, she thought about turning around and trying to evade the beast, but she heard the thump of the paws behind her, the crack of leaves, and a screeching howl. Now, she was simply a plaything for the creature. Something to chase, something to want. Something to kill and devour. Alice didn't know what to do now. She was sprinting through the forest, the trees making it hard for her to see. She couldn't hear anything except the pound of her feet and that of the beast behind her. She didn't dare look behind, for fear of freezing in her tracks at the sight of glowing crimson eyes and bloodstained teeth looking and grinning at her. No matter how hard and fast she ran, the beast would follow. It must have been enjoying it's little run, for she knew it could race much faster than she could. It was merely toying with her, and she knew that. But she didn't want to die...not yet. She had to get back to her family. She had to graduate high school, and meet her true love. But none of that could happen if she died tonight. These thoughts made her push on, even though she knew deep down that it was pointless. She had to try, though. After a few more moments, she felt herself slowing, unable to feel her legs anymore. Her feet began to ache from her shoes pounding against the hard ground of the forest, and she was sure she had twisted an ankle along the way. Scrapes and cuts lined her arms from the branches and thorns she had fought through, the hem of her dress ripped and tattered from the occasional falls she took. Mere moments later, she fell to her knees, unable to push on. She let out a blood-curdling scream as her eyes filled with tears, knowing her end was near. The tears ran down her dirty face like a river as she lay on the ground. But she didn't hear the snarls, or the paws...she heard her ragged breathing and her soft sobs. Maybe there wasn't a beast after all. "I'm ali-" she managed to get out, before screaming out in pain as she felt sharp, thick fangs sink into her leg, blood seeping out around the already bloodstained teeth. The teeth began to tug on her, wanting to rip the flesh from her. She fought and kicked, but it only helped in giving the beast what it wanted. Soon, her screams and sobs died out, as she was ripped to shreds and eaten by the beast, her pale face, cerulean eyes, skeleton, and the shreds of the costume all that remained.
