My Daughter's Homecoming

My Daughter's Homecoming

A Story by Emmie
"

Just a little short something or other about my oldest daughter coming home today

"
I was waiting in the baggage claim area waiting for her to arrive. I had secretly tucked away some tissues away in my pocket because I was afraid I would need them. I checked my phone to see if there were any messages announcing Emilie was here. I began to pace back and forth, methodically looking at the boards again for arriving flights, checking my phone, and watching the stairs. Each new pair of legs that began to descend the stairway made my heart skip a beat. I was worried I wouldn't recognize her when I saw her. Could she have changed so much that I wouldn't know her?  "A mother always knows their own child", I told scolded myself as I stopped my pacing. My attention was briefly distracted by others who were welcoming their friends or family. I couldn't help but smile as I heard them talked about the impending snow fall. I was startled out of my winter revelry by the buzzer in baggage claim announcing the arrival of freshly unloaded luggage. I glanced back to the disbanding group of people and then toward the jarring of the belt on the luggage return. I gazed down at my phone again then slid it back in to my pocket as I looked back up at the stairs. That's when I saw her, my baby...my angel! My worries melted and everything else around me fell away! My feet moved forward as Emilie came flying down the stairs. She ran to me as she dropped her bag. I ran to her with arms open wide. We embraced hard as our arms wrapped around each other, both sobbing and whispering our "I love yous" through our tears, neither of us wanting to let go for fear the moment wouldn't be real. And, for that brief moment in time, there was no airport, no baggage claim, no noise... there was no one else in the world but the two of us, just me and her, mother and daughter, reunited, happy, and whole

I never ever read such a touching, divine and sacred story.
Just reading the piece made me so emotional.
I had similar event in my life when my brother came from abroad after about ten years.
Congratulations!!!

That is a special moment in time. You should look in magiznes for a spot for it. I feel it wasn't written to make money but a lot of people have these special moments and can relate. I would keep rewriting it every other day and send it out to be discovered.
Thanks for sharing your work.

This story reminds me of when my son was four years old. Everyday, when the baby sitter would drop him off. He would get out of the car and run and jump into my arms. This story took me back to a time when I was truly happy. Thank you for writing it. I know the feeling, but on a more serious note, this has the begining of a good story. Well done.
