Ode to my oldest daughter

Ode to my oldest daughter

A Poem by Emmie
"

This poem is simple but it is about my oldest daughter.

"

There’s silver through her nose
And silver through her lips
There’s going to be a new tattoo
Of a heart that zips

My little child she is no more
Though time can never erase
Her beautiful eyes and cute little nose
That’s remnants of her baby face

Her hair maybe wild
But I have to profess
She will always be my baby girl
Even if her life is a mess

For twenty years I held her hand
I know I made mistakes
But I know that I will always try
No matter what it takes

She lives her life
In a nomadic way
Always wondering
But never stays

One day I hope she finds her way
Because I love her still
I only want what’s best for her
I know I always will

Like you, I am a mother to 5 children as well (4 girls, 1 lonely boy) This is a beautiful poem. Your acceptance of her free-spirit is what will help her develop into a creative beautiful woman. I went through this with my eldest andadn she is just the jazzyest damn young woman I know.

I love this..from a mother to a daughter..lovely.

Simple, but something I think parents can appreciate. There's indication in your poem that as parents we don't approve of our children's lifestyle when they grow up, but that our love for them never dwindles. We try and raise them best we can, but are never satisfied. When they grow up and move on we want them to succeed, but they'll always be our little boys and girls. I like it!

This is a fine ode to life and living and watching the ones the heart cares about grow up, changes,
an immense amount of depth, and the meaning has sentimental truth- can't help but move the reader
in the sincerity, yet the feeling is light and contemplative, draws upon understanding and wisdom,
and caring, its a brilliantly written poem, an ode to everlasting concern and care. excellent job

Being a mom is so.....amazingly difficult at times. Believe me when I say that I totally understand! Especially the piercings and tattoos.
