The JourneyA Poem by EmmasDilemmas45
minutes I sit in the carriage closest to the exit, as if an extra
90 seconds walk would make any difference, I look around at the other
passengers and can’t help but think none of them are as happy as us, because
how could anyone else be this lucky? 40
minutes A group of schoolchildren get on the train, they’re running
and losing their balance and swinging on the poles while their teachers start a
pathetic attempt to control them and you know I think I’m cursed because why
else would the school trips always end up on my carriage? 30
minutes I try to read a magazine but the kids are loud, I give up
and even more people squeeze on and why is it always so hot on the Central
line? 20
minutes It’s time to change line, I practically run to the next
platform and why do people walk so slowly? 13
minutes I put my headphones on, Taylor Swift knows that we’ll never
go out of style, and every song reminds me of you and why is this train not
moving faster? 7
minutes I’m 4 stations away from you and why are we stopping in
another tunnel? 1
minute I’m jumping off the train. And I’m running up the left hand side of the escalator. And I’m wearing your favourite dress. And I’m through the barriers. And I’m looking for you. And I’m smiling back at you. And I’m in your arms. And I’m home. © 2015 EmmasDilemmasReviews
