The Unknown

The Unknown

A Story by Emma (:

The word ‘Unknown,’ it seems so depressing, so negative. Like being unknown to the world, invisible. Like awaiting unknown answers, so eagerly. But I think indulging in a life of the unknown sounds good to me.

You see, if nobody knows your feelings, your life, the truth, then nobody can find out that you’re vulnerable, and fragile. If people know what hurts you, then they have the power to do exactly that. See, this is why people get hurt, their hearts broken. Because they let people inside, so they can see deep into their soul.

Don’t trust anyone. You’re playing with fire if you do. Trust, is as precious as a shimmering sapphire, but it is dangerous when given to someone who will betray. Trust is a strong flame, its orange light glowing elegantly. But if someone betrays that trust, then the flame burns out, and the embers disappear into thin air. The trust is gone. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

The worst thing to ever do if you want to be unknown is to fall in love. Yes, love is the thing that destroys a person the most. Love is a bomb, waiting to self-destruct, and leaving a disaster behind. It’s only a matter of time, before it explodes, its powerful ash, clinging onto your life. Not letting you go, not letting you move forward, it clings onto your heart forever, and causing pain wherever you go. Believe me, I’ve seen it. A lot of people like the idea of love: I don’t, I despise it. If you let someone inside, if you open up to them, it gives them control. They know you. How do people not find it terrifying? I find it more petrifying than death, even. It bewilders me, how people are not scared of giving someone the opportunity to break, humiliate, and destroy.

I’m not advising you to listen to me. I’m just a little girl. Some will find true love in this messed up world, but some are just here to fight. Whenever they get something good, it scares them to death. They are not weak. And they will not show the love inside of them. So they run. It hits you like a bullet to the head, and you run from it. It follows you, but you have to keep fighting, because it’s worse than any nightmare. It hurts to let it inside of you; I cringe at the thought of my heart thumping for someone else.

You don’t have to listen to my advice. But I assure you, you’ll come back. And when you do, I’ll say one word. Run.

This is a interesting piece. though i don't really agree with most of what you say, seeing as how being destroyed emotionally, physically, etc. gives birth to some of my best writing period. But you're use of metaphors and imagery in this piece are good, i look forward to reading more.

This poem highlights to me one of those realities that is "so simple it will pass you by"
Really makes sense , it's like "they cant hurt who they don't know"
Excellent.
