Prologue

Main character is rambling about nothing that important. Maybe.

I am a hero. A hidden hero. I used to work alone, I thought that was all I could do. Then I found them, or maybe they found me. I'm not really sure how I ended up in their team. It is all really confusing. Looking back on it I don't even know when I joined, officially. That's not the point though, the point is that I am a secret. Hidden even from those on my team. Perhaps I should explain. It's not that they are unaware of my existence, just unaware of my secret identity. Although it is more then just that. My powers are different from the rest of them, not just in the nature of my abilities but in there abundance and the fact that they were a natural happenstance. There was no vat of toxic waste, or bites from radioactive anything. No gamma-rays. No alien abductions. No magic spell books that when touched open a rift in space and time. My parents were both ordinary, as were their parents, and their parents' parents. For as far back as we could trace there was not a blip. Until me. My parents noticed right away the first of my powers. It was the most obvious. Back then there wasn't any superheroes so my parents hid me, knowing that at best I would be shunned and at worst... Well now there is no need to worry as much of that happening. The world has embraced the idea of superheroes after all. Most on my team don't bother to even wear a mask. No point in starting now, the public knows who most of them are. Only two, other then me, Silver and Blood Pearl wear masks when on the field. However when we return back to our hideout, the masks come off. We all know each others face and real name, except for me. None of them have ever seen me without my mask, nor have they ever heard a name other then my code: Mental Edge. Lately they have started to just call me Edge. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not.

 

Let me introduce the others. We have the leader 'Backlash' Kev, then the berserker 'Hit' Cale, our ninja 'Silver' Genn, on long range is 'Topaz' Sarah, and last of all 'Blood Pearl' Abel who is the scariest out of them all. I have only seen Blood Pearl in a fight one time and it is something I will never forget. Normally he hides somewhere in the hideout and makes us new teck, but never cross him. He not only is a master in light magic but is also the only user of blood magic to date. In fact that was how he earned his super villain name. Yes he was on the other side for a while, but he turned to good long before I joined. That's what the others said, but I still have my doubts, not that I will ever speak them. What right have I? Me, who hides the biggest secrets. I will stay silent for now and watch, using my teammates as a shield so the world doesn't look to closely at me. I'll hide behind the others and help the people for as long as I am able, then when the world turns on us, as it will one day, I will fade. My teammates can't expose me if they do not know me. Therefore they will never know me. You may think me cold but I can't afford to let them close, I can't afford to like them. I wouldn't be safe then when the day comes that they betray me.
