Our form

Our form

A Poem by Emma
"

Gender, race, birthplace....What do the boxes we tick actually mean?

"
We are constructed.

A framework forged
by the genetics that formulate;
the surroundings that fill;
the 50:50 gamble that filters.

Then we can turn within

and allow ourselves to be
filled with knowledge,
emotions and beliefs-
until we hit the boundary.

The intricate design prevents
expansion; or escape.

It pushes.
 It crushes.
  And we can't resist.
Because it was wove
into our skin
before it was our own.

The second we inhabited our bodies
we accepted the cruelty of the gift:
that we can beautifully dream-
In moderation.

The privileged of having an identity
becomes each bar of our entity.

They define us.

They confine us.

Author's Note

Emma
I feel that we are viewed too much by appearance and this in the end limits everyone. For me it is that I'm a white, brown haired, average height female who wants to be an actor in a industry made for those who look unique, as my teacher rather too bluntly told me today the chances of failure are unfortunately increased.

I love it my friend! I heard Your voice loud and angry, after reading Your note I know why, I guess many judge You into Your beautiful appearance, and I believe this makes You feel annoyed because You want them to see Your "special" inner, and what they see, only Your outside look, without feeling and falling deep into that outside look of Yours until they see Your truer self, from Your avatar, I see You as a passionate strong woman, and feel You a unique one, I so wish for You all the best in Your career, with this determination You have, You will, I'm sure You will, make Your dream real! forgot to say, I like the way Your poem appears, it adds more strength to it.

all the very best for You my new friend!
