SpectrumA Poem by ToldButNotListening(C) E. Edwards, February 2015Spectrum
A nexus of points of observation, And I can still never be satisfied. The weight of my mind and its fragments Segregate me from this life. We've looked for permanent solutions, And one appears to kill every fear with
silence. But something has proven too good, We are still tied to the moments that
save us.
Surely, there's another way to see this. Surely, there's another way to live.
CHORUS: For a second I, for a second I Thought we had finally won. Well the dream can be just like reality, Only some day you've got to wake up. For a second I, for a second I Thought I'd found paradise. What if I can't see everything I want
staring at me all this time?
A million years of damnation, And I can't find the courage to run. The chains that entangle and taunt us Awaken the beats of our hearts. Sometimes, the clouds are of colour, Still breathing hope into our
resurrection. But we have a long way to go, We're still trying to find the lighter
end of the spectrum.
Surely, there's another way to see this. Surely, there's another way to live.
CHORUS
Can you honestly see this as freedom? Can this honestly take the pain away? You may dream of it, And you’ll wish for it, But hell, you’ll never kill the pain
away.
