The IdealistA Poem by ToldButNotListening(C) E. Edwards, January 2015The Idealist
I let the rain erode my commonsense. I taste the poison for my own good. I realise there may be nothing left Of everything that I once understood. This is not what it once seemed.
So once again, we've fallen at the thrones of The Kings who paint our visions perfect gold. We're blinded while they speak and take for
themselves. But there's a way that we can see this world With open eyes and open minds.
CHORUS: Put up your guard, Welcome to the real world. It makes us crawl, But it's what makes us dare to dream.
I won't sit back and take what I've been given. There's so much more that is rightfully mine. I'll write my name, and they may crucify me, As long as I know I've done something right. The choice is yours, all the same.
CHORUS X2
Aren't you outraged? They're blaming you for their mistakes. It's okay to be ashamed Of the lies that fooled you. Take back every control you surrendered. Take back every control you surrendered.
