A Dark Bright Day

A Dark Bright Day

A Poem by Sugar and Spice
"

Dedicated to all those who lived through the darkest of times, not just Black Saturday, but all dark times. In memory of Cathy... Always remembered, never forgotten. R.I.P

"
Smoke engulfs the land.
As flames reach across the hills,
Darkness spreads as far as fear,
And a trail of black will always follow.

On that fateful day, when the whole world stopped,
The sky turned black and fear could be felt from far away.
Together we shall remain united,
We have all become equal.
We are the lucky ones, we are not the victims.
We are the survivors that rose from the ash out of the darkness,
When all hope was lost we kept our hearts alive.

Our eyes are open, we can see more then black,
We can see the life from the death,
And the good from the bad.
Joined forever, bonded together, always forever,
Now we shall remain connected.
All because of that dark, bright day...

The flow, the structure and the strength in the words are heart tugging and beautifully done.
