The Heart

One of the shortest poems I've ever written. Trying to gain someone's trust is hard.

In every human being

there resides a heart.

It beats,

it skips, 

it breaks.

But within this heart is the profound ability

to open itself to love.

And so I ask, with tentative words,

if you will open your heart to me;

and I will make sure,

to the best of my ability,

that while the heart that resides inside you

beats

and skips,

it never breaks.
