Care Bear

Care Bear

A Poem by Emily Jarvis

Please, take me home with you,

Like a teddy bear you cherish so

With a missing eye and stitched up paw

I will follow you where ever you go.

Please, share my tears with yours,

Like a sticky sweet you taste so

With the cuddly fur and black button nose

I will soak up tears from your swollen eyes.

Lasting a lifetime is hard,

When you hold me in your wrinkled hand

The remains of an unforgettable past

I will stay with you even when old and grey.

Wishing you didn’t have to leave me,

As you clutch me ever closer to your chest

The flashes of our perfect past life

I will care for you until I have repaid my debt.
