Mr Jack Rabbit and I

Mr Jack Rabbit and I

A Poem by Emily Elizabeth
"

The warrior

"

ஓ☆ஓ

Remember the days when

we became

Warriors, Mr Jack Rabbit?

ஓ☆ஓ

I said, "Mr Jack Rabbit,

You are the bravest of all animals,

Prince with the thousand enemies

You have no sword and yet you are the knight

Of the animal kingdom, the trickster, the wise, the cunning

A most handsome rogue

I understand you, Mr Jack Rabbit

Even though you are misunderstood

You have suffered, and I have too

You have lot to teach the wounded as well as the hunter

Your stories could make an ice heart melt

And your battle scars are the very portrait of your bravery

You are a warrior Mr Jack Rabbit

You’re fast and you’re clever

Like a lightning, a gale force wind

John Wayne, Bruce Lee, Mohammed Ali

and yet with the  untamed renegade soul and passion

Of Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon

I’ll walk alongside you, Mr Jack Rabbit

Into the sunset of a nightmare

Our swords swinging, wearing our masks of hope

Ready to face all

Come what may."

ஓ☆ஓ

We are still marching to this day

Marching to the sound of the drums of war
The symphony of hope and triumph
Over the evil out there and in ourselves
 ஓ☆ஓ

ஓ☆ஓ
Let's never stop, Mr Jack Rabbit
Until our children can live in a near-perfect world
ஓ☆ஓ

Author's Note

Emily Elizabeth
My imagination is going nuts today.
I've always loved bunnies and hate the way nature seems to abuse them so. They're misunderstood creatures. This is an ode to their courageousness!

Oh, Emily!!!!! This is utterly fascinating and wonderful!!! Mr. Jack Rabbit, listen to this wise woman!! She knows you well!!! This piece is so great, so much artistry and wisdom poured into it....it's wild and full of life. Reading it just opened up a big swishing energy in my heart chakra and I am full of ants in my pants now!! I just want to go out hopping. This morning, I actually saw a bunny pee on the sidewalk as I got in my truck!! Never in my life have I seen a bunny pee....such a silly thing, but I had to share it!! LOL
Yes....Warrior....a very noble praise to the courageous!!!! Keep rockin' these out, sister.....the world is already a better place for having these words in it!!!

Frith and Flayrah! This was great. Yay for the bunnies! Watership Down was a wonderful book. I wrote a poem for a contest about it for favorite book. I have dozens of bunnies in my backyard, I see them every day, cute little creatures.

What a wonderful, vivid poem that celebrates the joy of life and wildness of nature! Watership Down is one of my favorite books, and your description reminds me of the magnificence of that novel... May we find a way to make their world more safe...

This is really cool! Is "Jack Rabbit" a character you made up, or is he in some book or story I don't know about? Either way, it's really cool that you glorify a rabbit as this savior-figure - it really goes against the "natural order of things" since rabbits are, you know, pretty low on the food chain. It also creates an interesting metaphor for your message: rabbits are so tame and cute, but they're the ones that are going to have to change something, otherwise change is never going to happen. It's a great call to the "Jack Rabbits" of the world to wake up and start DOING something!

I will say, though, that the little red squiggly thingies between the stanzas were a little distracting to me as a reader. That may just be because I have a weird attention span, but I figured I'd point that out :-)

I'm delighted that your imagination went "nuts", it helped you
write a wonderfully charming and whimsical poem about a creature we all know and love

The creativity that you displayed with this work of art is marvelous

Take a bow and listen to the applause

I love this. Only one complaint. The second to last stanza should be switched with the third-to-last.
