Deliverance

Deliverance

A Poem by Emily Elizabeth
"

A true poem about dreams that I have that never happened

"

Deliverance

I remember things,

Images and dreams

That I’m sure I’ve never lived before

Of Peacock wings-

And Gossamer seams

Crystal waves lapping a sandy shore

Snow-capped mountains,

Or Exotic trees

And a warm, forgiving island breeze

Onyx fountains

Haunt my memories,

Though I have never experienced these!

Metallic fish

In a turquoise lake

Under silvery jungle moonlight

Oh! I wish,

Tremble and quake!

In the wake of the memory’s sight!

So alive...

Real, it must be,

Or some vision from a past life

I strive,

In an urban city

To visit these places amongst the angst and the strife

Take me away!

Far away from here

To the places where my visions exist

Instead of the death of today,

Grey and unclear

In this city’s polluted and toxic mist

Deliver me

Author's Note

Emily Elizabeth
I actually remember all those things. I have no idea why. They're too real to be dreams and I've never left my grotty South East London home, so what could they be?
I hope you enjoy it!

Dreams are so real and sometimes send a message. I believe in God's ability to speak to us in dreams and have been to a class on interpreting dreams. (Not enough to have figured it out), but I have had some very vivid dreams like this one.

Your poem flows "like a dream." It really does! I love your use of words and the vivaciousness of this piece through the imagery you chose.

So glad I read this today, Emily!

Sometime, things are beyond one's understanding and be accepted as is. Reading this poem, i left feeling relax and totally at peace with myself. Not an everyday experience for a person, who suffers from depression, extreme anxiety/panic attacks and flashbacks. Just for that simple and humble gift, i thank you from the dept of my heart.

Beautiful, vivid images of worlds so much brighter and bolder than the urban jungle. So brilliantly expressed through your words!!

Could be from past lives I believe there is a connection to our dream state that can go way below soul level.

What an awesome "dream." Sounds like clairvoyance to me, the ability to see something at a distance or on another plane.

passion is an energy- a feeling all its own.. this writing has passion in yearning, when pondering the astral effects of a dream..a place where everything is crisp- clear and implies dreams in meaning- i believe that

there is something to this writing- the vision is the embodiment of describing scenery.. and taking the reader to another place - another plane where to live is to feel..what it means to be consumed by bliss-

the detail is beautiful and places the reader walkng along a pillowy seashore..a tropical island memory
defining beauty in a way ive always thought reflects solace and content- a place to dwell in unity &

harmony with the surrounding- its the beauty revealing paradise in thought- to read this poem is to experience what it means to want to be free in happiness... wether or not the meaning is symbolic

there is a metaphorical projection entwining the meaning and what it is to desire warmth in a cold world.
this is skillfuly presented with talent threading each word into the tapestry of pure color it is

i like your use of frequent difference in themes to contribute to the main idea.

i like the fifth and tenth stanzas the most..i think theyre a little inconsistent with the others, so they stand out, but i cant place what it is that makes them stand out like that.

and the imagery is really amazing..just the descriptions alone, as short and simple as they are, are enough to paint a vivid picture in the audience's mind, vivid enough to be clear, but still lenient enough to leave a spacious amount of room for personal-individual cultivation.

i definitely agree with your featured review..I almost missed the middle line rhyme too, but it really is crucial in that it kind of ties together all of the different themes, and causes them to come together to emphasize the central theme..which, if im not mistaken, is a little deeper than just wanting to get away..it's wanting to get away..but it goes out of its way to acknowledge just why you want to get away, which is where the analysis is really hard. I'm probably wrong, but I interpret it as a slightly transcendentalist rising above--if you will--rising above what you've seen..and juxtaposing harsh, undesirable reality with ideal visions.

love great imagery. it somehow reminds me of Heart's "These Dreams", this poem has the same mystic, eerie beauty of unexplained dreams!
amazing work, always a pleasure reading your work :)
