Come Out AliveA Poem by EmilyAt least I knew you Wanted to get to know all of you, Be able to talk about anything with you Vulnerable and intimate Be comfortable with who I am When I’m with you We were lost, Desperate, And confused Using drugs here and there, Regretting these days, Partying, like there was no tomorrow Orientation, first girl crush I remember Going to rehab together, we bonded Talked all night from fairies to midnight skies Made out in the bathroom stall, kissing passionately, As we stared into each other’s eyes College stress and overwhelm Didn’t know if we’d come out alive Here you are, with a career you dreamed of I admire you, more than that, I’m afraid to say, I feel like I love you Amanda, I love you.
