Reflection of the Mirror

Reflection of the Mirror

A Poem by Emily

Staring into the mirror

My reflection blank and pale

Overthinking the times when you were here

You tickled me while staring into my reflection of the mirror

My expression once happy and bright

Tears, slowly trickling down my face

Drafted to war, you said you’d always be with me

I feel you somewhere in our house, your presence

Just not quite sure where

I can’t grab onto your rough, yet smooth as smooth can be hands

I wish you were by my side and hadn’t died

Died, disappeared, lost in the tragic of war

The unknown terrors that seem distant until they strike

Until you are no longer there to comfort me and hold me tight

Hold me tight one more time, one more time that will last an eternity

Hold me tight, tonight

This is a good piece. Its so tragic that this happens to many familys around the world. Such brave men going to battle and not to return.

Beautifully written.

Mark.
