Unfocused

Unfocused

A Poem by Emily

Deep connection forgotten,

Zero empathy for my feelings

My emotions numb, like piercing ice gliding through me

Perhaps your intentions, never quite limpid, a bit hazy

All I have left, a shriveled tulip you handed me

Believe me, I wish I would let go of the thought of you

Wishing my thoughts would flutter away, like a wren disappearing into the crisp autumn air

Time to journey along a path where I no longer see those hazel eyes

Those deceiving hazel eyes, that I can cannot afford to see

It sometimes takes a lot of effort to be able to let go of the memory of someone...it's never easy, but in the long run, once you forget all about them, you will begin to see yourself change & grow! We can all prosper from blocking out negative people in our lives, it just takes longer for others to see their true colors. Great write, very touching & heartfelt.

Did you know, the top three for the contest you wrote this for the contest all used hazel eyes?

Anyway, my favorite line is "where I no longer see those hazel eyes"
