Black Shadow

Black Shadow

A Poem by ButterflyVision
"

The feeling of having an all encompassing mental illness that takes you somewhere to escape from reality.

"

A black shadow came to follow me,

Follow from in front.

I was lead by someone nasty,

Who held my hand and made me numb.

Following was easy,

Keeping up was like a game,

My shadow gave me company and protected me from pain.

Everyone has a story,

A shadow to hold their hand,

Mine came from unsolved puzzles and life experiences i’d faced, unarmed.

One month becomes a year,

Then years pass quickly on,

Was I living?

I felt like I had gone.

A black shadow came to follow me,

Follow from in front.

I thought this hand was safe,

Until I woke up and I was gone.
